I began using Hemp Seed Oil within my Wellbeing Facials in February 2016 a month after the launch. The more clients I see, the more skin types I see, the more I have to keep my eye out for something that might be even better than I’ve used before. Skin care is all about honing down what your skin responds well too, if it absorbs readily then the skin can do something with it!

So what’s going on inside this unique yellowy-green oil produced from the seeds of the Cannabis plant. Firstly I need to point out that the psychoactive substances found in the plant are not found in the seeds used to give us this beautiful oil by cold pressing in China.

Along with Jojoba I opt for this oil when I need a lighter oil to balance a skin that is oilier and overproducing sebum. It is both anti-inflammatory and healing so again great for Acne sufferers. Despite being light in texture it is loaded with vitamins, minerals and Omega 3, 6 & 9!

It may be unusual for you to hear that I would use oil on oily skins but there is a theory and it’s one that makes sense to me. If we feed the skin oil the brain learns that it doesn’t need to send much more, if we apply heavier oils the skin is overloaded and will breakout in reply. If you keep stripping the skin of natural oil with foaming cleansers and alcohol based toners then your brain receives a message that it’s dry so it sends more oil! After a while the skin becomes dehydrated and oily!

Tip: Treat oil with oil but make sure it’s the right oil! Consider Hemp Seed, Jojoba or Apricot Kernel.
